Memories Outloud

by Jackie Bullen

Poems inspired by family, life, special moments...all things remembered. Relish the reminiscent miracle of a newborn baby in "Hold Me" or feel the gentle nudge in "Be There" reminding that someday "now" will be no more than a memory. Picture a loved one with a verbal snapshot perfectly depicting fond remembrances in "Jelly Bean." Feel the anticipation as a mother awaits the words that her first grandchild is on the way only to find her child has called to let her know he's made a "Hole In One." Laugh along with "Oklahoma~Texan" as you learn Southern Speak, and many more as you experience Memories Outloud.

Hole In One

by Jackie Bullen

The child calls home excited,

Almost breathless with delight.

"Mom!  Guess what the news is?"

Emotions soaring, hearts go tight.

There couldn't be more anticipation,

In the voices of mother and son.

"Is it a baby?" says the mother.

"No Mom! I made a hole in one!!!"

LOVE

by Jackie Bullen

I've prayed that you find peace and love,

as you've been so torn apart.

While still in school, you're first love left,

now that was just the start.

 I prayed you'd find a stronger love,

and that soon came to be.

Then slowly, like a fading star,

there was no love left to see.

Another love then crossed your path,

and gave you so much more.

These sparks of love are always yours,

as yet you close that door.

Now as you gather once again,

there's one that's made you glow.

I pray that she will always shine,

as I watch you learn and grow.

Don't think there's no one for you.

Sometimes love seems so far away.

When finally the right one comes along,

they will be there come what may.
